Mr. Riggs Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
In making the wines he loves to make- and drink- the Coonawarra is more so ‘icon wines from icon regions’ and in adding Cabernet Sauvignon to the Mr. Riggs portfolio, the illustrious Coonawarra region was an obvious first choice.
The Coonawarra Cabernet is supplied from the Wetherall vineyards located in the heart of the Coonawarra wine region. Supplied from the “Thomas” vineyard and the “Harrison” vineyard both named after Michael and Michelle Weatherall’s children. The sites are located in the northern end of the region and are traditionally some of the earlier ripening blocks with low yields and excellent concentration. While yields were moderate, the slow, cool ripening was even, providing fruit with fine tannins and strong varietal flavors.
