Penny's Hill

McLaren Vale, South Australia

In 1988, Penny’s Hill was established on the rolling foothills east of McLaren Vale, its 80-acre prized piedmont position commanding views over the waters of Gulf St.Vincent and promising all the elements for a great vineyard.

Planted to a unique narrow-row configuration to maximise vineyard productivity and grape and wine quality, Penny’s Hill is now recognised as one of McLaren Vale’s outstanding estate producers.

Penny’s Hill also has the distinction of being the first Epicurean Wines McLaren Vale principal  after a meeting in 1999 between the founders; Tony Parkinson [Penny’s Hill] and Ben Hammerschlag [Epicurean Wines].

The wines reflect both generosity of the region and individuality of Penny’s Hill estate plantings. Winemaker Alexia Roberts works closely with viticulturist Jeremy Binns to maximise fruit quality and vine health.

Alexia’s passionate approach has produced outstanding results – including 2014 Penny’s Hill ‘Edwards Road’ Cabernet being named the World’s Best Cabernet at the Concours International des Cabernet in France in 2016.
